Have you ever been busted up by the guy who’s spent a fortune on gear? Or have you been shot up by the kid whom just started and has virtually no experience? It is a widely held belief that some guns are just more accurate and shoot further than others. I’ll tell you right now, that is an incorrect statement.
If you want to shoot as accurately as the guys who’ve spent tons of time and money playing paintball, buy yourself a case of paint and go target shooting. However, “Practice makes perfect” isn’t all of it. When you lay down a lot of paint with your gun, you learn how it behaves. Once you understand why your gun does what it does, you can either fix it or compensate for it. Experienced players have been using their guns for a long time and trust in their ability. They are always finding ways to make their guns just a little better, a little more accurate. Never doubt the ability of someone who can strip their gun is 5 seconds flat.
However, knowing your gun is only half the battle. It is essential that you keep your gun clean and well lubricated. A lot of experienced players tear down and polish any new gun before they even fire it for the first time. You’d be amazed what a good polish will do for not only accuracy, but efficiency. Once you do polish your guns guts, you will see how much of an improvement that can make. Now you’re hooked. You want to find any and every way to make your gun better. There are tons of things you can do, and once you do even a few of them, the cheapest $50 special from a discount store can shoot as accurately as an Angel, MiniMag, or Autococker.
People who have tons of money to spend do have an advantage. They can pay people to make their guns better. But the people who do it themselves understand why it’s so much better. Basically what I’m saying is that it is essential you understand how your gun works, your guns little nuances, and the damaging effects of the environment. Once you can tear your gun down to the smallest parts and put it back together, completely confident that it will shoot, you have won half the game.
Paintballing is as much a mind game as it is physical. Be confident in yourself, your abilities, and especially your gun. Never underestimate an opponent, even if he does have a $50 discount special. “To know your enemy is to know yourself.” Your enemy is the same as you. They want to win. They shoot paint at their targets just like you. It doesn’t matter if they’ve spent tons of money. You should always look at other players as equal. Anything you can do to your gun, they can do to theirs. Just make it a point to shoot better and be a better player. If you can learn to be a better player and not look at others as less than you, you have indeed won.
Spread the knowledge.
